Supreme Court Ruling Troubles GOP Senators?

I appears that GOP lawmakers are troubled because the Supreme Court wants us to stick the the Geneva Convention that we signed in 1949. This bugs me a lot. First question:

Why wouldn't we want to treat people humanely?

Possible GOP answer: "Because the terrorist don't treat our soldiers and civilians humanely."

Counterpoint: We are supposed to be better than that. Doesn't your own God that you talk about at EVERY election tell you to turn the other cheek? Doesn't he tell you to do unto others as you would have them do unto you? Those things dont count in the real world, do they? You only want to use the bible and religeon when it suits you?
