Lies Liars and Damn Lying Liars

Sunday, Condoleezza Rice made several claims that there were direct connections between Iraq and Al Qaeda before the war. On Monday, Dick Cheney said that pre-war Iraqi leaders "had long-established ties with al Qaeda." Earlier this year he said that the ties were "overwhelming." On Tuesday Bush was asked to defend or refute these claims. He chose to defend them.

This pattern is ongoing. In January Cheney said "there's overwhelming evidence" of an Iraq-al Qaeda connection. He said he was "very confident there was an established relationship there." Bush said "There's no question that Saddam Hussein had al Qaeda ties." They use Zarqawi's presence in Iraq as 'evidence'. So, they must know something? They have been saying it for years and they are saying it this week.

These guys are lying through their teeth in order to make the connection between the war on terrorism and the war in Iraq. The connections they mention do not exist. Read the 9/11 Report [pdf link] and the Senate Intelligence Committee's report [pdf link]. The latter claims that Hussein and the Iraqi government "did not have a relationship, harbor, or turn a blind eye toward Zarqawi and his associates." Furthermore, though bin Laden made contact with Iraqi intelligence and requested funding, no assistance was forthcoming. Essentially, the Iraqi government had been contacted by al Qaeda but they did not cooperate or assist them.

So, why is the government lying to us? Right before elections? Anyone?

Because half of this country is willing to believe anything they say just so the "liberals" don't come into power and let this country go to hell in a hand bag. How sad is that?

That is the point - not that you can prove them liars. They don't care about that. Their message reaches its target audience.

You are using misleading information. The both 9/11 report and the senate intelligence committees report are referring to 9/11. Bush and Cheney both agree that there is no connection between 9/11 and Saddam Hussein.

As far as a link to terrorists, Saddam Pays 25K for Palestinian Bombers. Here is a link. Or just research it yourself.

Hey Anonymous,

Can you not read? Or is it understanding that is the had part? My post gives quotes where Bush and Cheyney assert that there were close ties between Al-Queda and Iraq. However, this is shown to be false by 9/11 commisions and the Senate Intelligence Committee's report.

Why do you change the subject to Palestinian bombers? Maybe you should use comething other than 'fux' as a news source?

-Not even a nice try.
