Conrad Burns is a Puppet for Out of State Interests.

There is a lot of talk from right wing bloggers that Jon Tester is a puppet for out of state interests. The facts somply don't bare that out, especially when we compare Tester to Burns. Let's look first at their campain finances.

BURNS Donations for 2006:
In-State $663,824 (21%)
Out-of-State $2,464,034 (79%)

TESTER Donations for 2006:
In-State $160,719 (50%)
Out-of-State $159,650 (50%)

This shows that folks out of state are much more interested in getting Burns reelected than folks in state. Why is that? Do you think all those out of state donations were made in hopes that he would do good things for Montana? I don't think so, and neither should you.

Who is really interested in seeing Burns reelected? Let's look at it closer.

Burns donations by City
WASHINGTON DC $507,224
BILLINGS $192,294
NEW YORK $187,775
LOS ANGELES $103,029
DENVER $83,984

Looks like the folks in DC want him back REALLY bad. New York is interested, as well as LA. That is sweet of them, but don't they already have two senators? Why do they want one of ours?

So, what else can we find out about Burns? Well, Big business loves him. Labor? Not so much.

Business $1,543,520
Labor $33,500
Ideological $403,713

Tester, on the other hands, has gotten the vast majority of his funding from PEOPLE, and Labor seems to like him just fine.

Business $750
Labor $1,000
Ideological $2,150
